Alan Rough

Alan Rough is a former Scottish International goalkeeper, who won over 50 caps and played for his country in two FIFA World Cups. He also had a long club career, mostly  with Partick Thistle & Hibernian.

Alan played in those World Cup tournaments for Scotland, in 1978 and 1982.  He played 53 times for his country, keeping a clean sheet in 16 of those games.  At the time of his retirement, Rough was Scotland's most capped goalkeeper.

In the 1990s, Alan had a successful spell as manager (initially player-manager) of junior club Glenafton Athletic.

He then co-presented a football phone-in show on Real Radio with both Ewen Cameron and  ex Rangers rival, Derek Johnstone until July 2012, a format that is available to book as a Football Forum Roadshow

He now co-presents a football phone-in show on Central FM, along with Peter Martin which is shown on STV Glasgow and Alan can also be seen featured in the press as he writes a column for the Scottish edition of the Daily Mirror.

With his dressing room stories, tales of travel and his footballing quick banter from on and off the field, Alan is one of the most popular speakers on the circuit.

"Alan was punctual, arriving when he said he would. He spoke for about 40 minutes and then spent time chatting to and mixing with the guests which went down very well. His speech was interesting, funny and entertaining. General comments from both our members and members of the other clubs attending were “Marvellous! Great Speech! Really enjoyed it! ."
