Ann Widdecombe

After Dinner & Event Speaker (in association with SpeakOut)

Not many former Government ministers have taken up the role of Celebrity with the same verve and panache displayed by Ann Widdecombe.

For 20 years she was the Conservative MP for Maidstone.

She was minister for the Dept. of Employment and the Home Office and she was both shadow secretary for Home and Health, a good grounding for comedy, some would say.

It was in 2010, that Ann burst on to our screens, when she entered series 8 of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing. Suddenly memories of John Sergeant, two years previously, came flooding back, as Ann remained on the show week after week.

There was no need this time for any of the TOG's that supported John, to keep Ann voted in, as the general public loved and laughed at Ann's antics on the dance floor.

Ann almost made it into the semi finals but she was eventually voted off in week 10, just when Anton thought they might actually win.

Playing a pantomime dame for a second year alongside her former "Strictly" judge, Craig Revel Horwood, Ann continues to hone her skills on the footlights of the Swan theatre, High Wycombe during December.

When she is not facing the spotlight, Ann can be heard speaking at dinners and events up and down the country.

Ann Widdecombe is also a popular writer, having started in 2000 with her first novel "The Clematis Tree" which became a Times "best seller".

She has now published 4 novels and a fifth is already in the pipeline.
