After Dinner & Event Speaker (in association with SpeakOut)
Monty Halls is one of the countries leading explorers. He was catapulted into the public eye in early 2002 when he led a multi-national team of adventurers and scientists on an expedition to South East India to discover the ruins of a lost civilisation beneath the sea. This was a discovery of global significance, and established Monty as one of the new stars of British exploration.
On the back of this and other expeditions, Monty was invited to take part in the major Channel 4 project Superhumans which was screened in 2004. This two hour television special, heralded by Channel 4 as their flagship television event for Spring 2004, pitted high achievers from all disciplines in Britain against one another in a series of tests devised by experts in human performance.
Monty also presented a series for Channel 4 involving global exploration. This series was seen as a forerunner to a considerably more comprehensive series screened in 2005. He is also wrote his first book for Ultimate Sports publications.
More recent television series were Channel 5's Great Ocean Adventures which ran to a second series and repeated on Animal Planet. Monty set out to discover the truth behind mythical creatures of the ocean that have bewitched and terrified man for as long as he has explored the sea.
Viewers were taken to some of the most extreme and remote locations on earth. Monty used all of his skills as an explorer and marine biologist, as well as earning the trust of local people. Travelling to Japan, Monty was determined to seek out the Giant Spider Crab with a leg span of up to 12 feet, which is rarely encountered by divers. Diving to an incredible 50 metres, surrounded by caves, caverns and overhangs, Monty was on a mission to find one.
In Tonga, Monty is enthralled by the humpback whale and, slips into the water to approach forty tons of whale as it hangs in blue ocean. Closer to home, a giant Turtle is the talk of the town in Devon. Great Ocean Adventures sees ancient knowledge meeting with modern technology, which guarantees lasting encounters with some of the most exciting creatures of the seas.
2009 saw a 5-part BBC series 'Monty Halls' Great Escape' for BBC 2. This featured Monty and his dog Rueben's experiences living in a croft for 6 months on the Applecross Peninsula in Wester Ross, Scotland.
A second series was broadcast in 2010, called Monty Halls' Great Hebridean Escape where he moved into a restored crofter's cottage on the Hebridean island of North Uist and becomes a volunteer wildlife ranger.
Monty is an adventurer in the finest traditions of British exploration. A former Royal Marines Officer, he was the first to get an underwater picture of a rare crocodile species in the jungle pools of the mysterious Maya Mountains in Belize. In late 2001 he led a pioneering project 270 kilometres in sea kayaks up the inland shore of one of Africa's great rift lakes, photographing new underwater species and contacting remote villages and indigenous peoples en route. He has also photographed sharks in cave systems in South Africa, and led projects in Indonesia, Honduras and the Philippines. His television programmes have appeared on Channel 4, Channel 5, Carlton, Discovery, and the National Geographic channel.
Monty will be returning to the Dive show at the NECC in Birmingham this year.

'Monty Halls gave an outstanding presentation at our Harrogate and Hull Conventions. His talk was engaging, humorous and challenged our audience to step outside of their comfort zones. This guy has been there, done it and really knows how to talk about it! I would recommend him to any organisation or conference needing a truly inspirational speaker. Great value!'
Yorkshire International Business Convention
'The event went even better than we could have hoped and Monty was a delight. He had obviously spent some considerable time before the event, incorporating our key messages into his presentation and the resulting mix was both entertaining and informative. Our Execs were so pleased that we were able to find someone who could deliver a message with so much humour and honesty.'
'Montys style is very engaging, informal and was entirely appropriate for our Team Manager community. He was very inspirational and gave a lot of practical advice that was put across in a very simple manner with an excellent mix of humour. The feedback from business and learning and development team was fantastic. We give him ten out of ten for content, relevance, entertainment and style!'
'Your presentation really was quite superb and totally met my brief. It was interesting, engaging, funny, exciting and as I say totally hit the mark with the
brief and more importantly the team. Several people stated that you were the best motivational speaker we've ever had.'
Cancer Research UK
'Two standing ovations! Monty was excellent, relaxed and professional. Key objectives were met and messages on effective leadership were well delivered in a fun and engaging manner. The audience loved Monty for two reasons his engaging and entertaining presentation and he's a handsome bloke! Overall? Excellent!'
'Monty's style and delivery is relaxed, confident, humorous, engaging, relevant. We chose Monty because we thought he would have a wide appeal among our diverse workforce. He did not disappoint. Whilst his presentation was extremely entertaining, the lessons on change, leadership and planning were most apt. Monty had a difficult job. He was a last-minute replacement for a high profile speaker who had withdrawn, but within minutes he had completely won over the audience. His combination of presentation, video, anecdotes,
humour and learning was very well received.'
London & Quadrant Housing Trust
'His talks were riveting his enthusiasm, energy and deep interest in his subject matter comes through. Monty uses the whole stage area and his body to talk, striding around the stage, across the screen-pictures pointing and illustrating, demonstrating with his body the movements of the fish etc. Around the ship he readily talked to passengers. 'When Monty left in Gibraltar, I had people coming up to me and asking 'Where is Monty?' 'Gone', said I, 'Oh dear' said they, 'I wanted to say goodbye to him such a lovely man' (etc etc). Quite crestfallen they were. I think we can say he was a hit both on and off stage!'
'We wanted our conference to end with a bang and with Monty we got something on an atomic scale. Hire him whilst you can still afford him, and remind everyone to fasten seatbelts and extinguish cigarettes before the talk begins!'
Tropicana Drinks plc
'Enthusiastic and engaging inspiring and thought provoking for all present. The fact that Monty spared time up-front to understand our business and some of our present challenges meant that he was able to make the content of his leadership talk relevant to our delegates. We wanted someone who was able to motivate, inspire and at the same time be practical and Monty did this.'
Vertex Financial Services
'I have been attending these conferences for a decade, and that is the best presentation I've ever seen.'
'Excellent style very inspiring. Ten out of ten!'
IBM (Sales Roadshow)
'Fantastic style and delivery. Monty was very enthusiastic and his enthusiasm was infectious. The audience was extremely responsive to him.'
Investors In People
'Monty's delivery was fun, personal and energetic. We wanted to have someone in to talk about leadership and decision-making using media, his personal experiences, and interacting with us to discuss points of interest, helped facilitate this. He was energising and held interest all the way through. It is a very lively department and culture which Monty fitted well into.'
'Anyone interested in highlighting the importance of good leadership and teamwork should listen carefully to what Monty Halls has to say.'
Dixon Giles & Co Leadership Development
'Inspiring, funny, highly informative and a real glimpse of the effect of stress on the human animal. The highlight of our conference.'
Focus Solutions Group
