After Dinner & Event Speaker (in association with SpeakOut)
Steve is one of the busiest presenters on television, mainly working for the BBC's Natural History Unit. He has had his own season of programmes on Eden television channel, alongside legends David Attenborough and Bruce Parry. Before that, he was 'Adventurer in Residence' at the National Geographic Channel.
In 2014 Steve filmed the new Deadly Pole to Pole series - which was shown on the CBBC Channel. 2013 saw Steve film a new BBC series, Supergiant Animals, and Swimming with Monsters, a new series for Discovery.
Steve has spent many months traveling the world to film a new series of CBBC's groundbreaking Deadly 60. As its wildlife expert, he is a hugely popular television presenter, and has also filmed Live and Deadly, Deadly 360 and Deadly Art.
He took part in the BBC's Deadly Days Out, which brought live animals to audiences across the UK, and completed his theatre tour Steve Backshall: Wild and Live, which was a resounding success.2013 will also see Steve presenting Deadly on a Mission on Sunday's at 6.05pm, Mission Madagascar on CBBC, and Deadliest Showdowns for the BBC Earth Unplugged YouTube channel.
Steve's expeditions have taken him across the world in search of the extraordinary. He was part of the BBC's hugely successful Lost Land of the Jaguar, as well as Lost Land of the Volcano and Lost Land of the Tiger in the following years. He made the first descent into an enormous, unexplored sinkhole for BBC1's Emmy-nominated epic Expedition Borneo, and trekked into the heart of America's most inhospitable terrain for Discovery's Expedition Alaska. For the BBC's Secret Wilderness: Japan he met giant salamanders and feisty Macaque monkeys, and came face-to-face with King Cobras for Sky One's Inside King Cobra programme. Closer to home, Steve has presented Britain's Lost World, Extreme Caving, Inside Out, The Nature of Britain and, famously, CBBC's The Really Wild Show.
Steve's achievements do not lie solely in his successful television career. He has published a number of books, including 'Looking for Adventure' and 'Predator', as well as 'Venom', 'The Rough Guide to: Indonesia', 'Southeast Asia', 'First-time Asia', the 'Adventurers' Guide to Wildlife', 'Expeditions' and 'Adventurer in Residence'. His first fiction book, 'Tiger Wars' was released in 2012, with three more instalments in the pipeline. Such fascinating experiences and his wealth of knowledge combine to make Steve an inspirational public speaker. He presents on a wide range of wildlife, conservation, exploration and adventure topics. His recent climbing accident and recovery forms the focus of his current presentations, and makes for a compelling and motivating event.
