Theo Paphitis

After Dinner & Event Speaker (in association with SpeakOut)

Theo Paphitis was born in Cyprus.

He came to England when he was six and was running the tuck shop at his north London school at 15. Starting out as tea boy at a City insurance broker, he found his flair for retail as a shop assistant at Watches of Switzerland.

Theo returned to the insurance industry in sales at 20, where he discovered his natural ability of pointing out the obvious and applying common sense (which is not common). In no time he was helping businesses in difficulty and this soon became a full time role.

He has turned Ryman, Contessa, La Senza and Partners the Stationers into successful and profitable retail businesses.

He now heads up a 350 store chain and a group turnover approaching 250m. Other ventures include Red Letter Days, the company he salvaged out of administration with fellow BBC Dragon Peter Jones.

As a former Chairman of Millwall FC. Theo is also very much into football.

''Thank you so much for an excellent evening . We all thoroughly enjoyed the talk and your tales of flying in Africa were very interesting amusing and very well told.''
Bob Paterson, Speaker Secretary - Rotary Club of Gloucester Severn

''Sherell Cunningham has a passion and zest for life which is truly inspiring. Feisty, unconventional and forthright, her story is a remarkable tale of ambition, adventure and triumph over adversity, told with down-to-earth realism and self-deprecating good humour. Listening to Sherell is an uplifting, heart warming experience, and she is a fine example of what can be achieved with a single minded determination to succeed, and by refusing to take no for an answer.''
John Simonett, Professional Speaker and Fellow of the Professional Speakers Association

''Totally inspirational, what a life!!''
Stuart Andrews, Associated British Housing

''Committed, dynamic, innovative . . . and unique''
Dr Francine Baker, Solicitor and Academic

''Sherell Cunningham is one of life's characters, not a person to be trifled with but a lady who rightly recognises that the world belongs to all people, not just men, and lunch really doesn't come for free.
Sherell has had quite an adventurous life, both in and out of business, and now she has decided to tell her story you can expect many people will find it both inspiring and motivational''
James Williams, Director - CS World Services Ltd
