Nicholas McDonald is an incredibly talented Scottish singer who captured hearts as the runner-up of the tenth series of The X in 2013!

 

After his stunning performance on the show, he signed with RCA Records and launched his debut album, "In the Arms of an Angel," in 2014, which soared to an impressive number 6 on the UK Albums Chart!

 

Auding in Glasgow on June 4, 2013, he wowed the judges with Secret Garden's "You Raise Me Up," receiving a mixed reaction. While Barlow hesitated, the other judges, Louis Walsh, Nicole Scherzinger, and Sharon Osbourne, enthusiastically said "yes," propelling him to the arena where he sang "A Thousand Years."

 

At bootcamp, McDonald stole the show as the final contestant in the boys' category, singing Jason Mraz’s "I Won’t Give Up," earning rave reviews from Walsh who it his favourite of the night!

 

He made his way through judges’ houses, delivering stunning performances of "If You’re Not the One" and "Someone like You," ultimately being chosen for the live shows.

 

Nicholas dazzled audiences week after week, never landing the bottom two, and made history on December 8 by reaching the final alongside Sam Bailey and Luke Friend, the first Scottish contestant to do so since Leon Jackson 2007!

 

After an unforgettable performance of "Super (It’s Not Easy)," he finished as runner-up, with voting stats showing he and Bailey were the top two every week.

 

Post-show, Nicholas focused on his music career, saying goodbye to school, and in January 2014, he proudly announced his signing with RCA Records!

 

His catchy lead single "Answer" was released on March 16, just day before his debut album, which launched to incredible heights, hitting number 6 on the UK Albums Chart and claiming the top spot on the Scottish Albums Chart!
